NEW YEAR BUSINESS BOOST for 2010

In order to really kick start the year ahead, I always make sure that
December has some “clear out” days. So I have started today by clearing my desk of unwanted docs etc. I really believe that this allows more creativity and space for new ideas and projects to flow. So between Xmas and New year I will:

• Clear out all unwanted files, paperwork and old magazines.
  • Archive reference material
  • Clear and file emails
  • Order contacts/business cards into Outlook or databases
  • Buy a new wall planner -  that’s what I can then see in front of me!
  • Celebrate everything that went well this year – highly motivating – there’s always something if you look hard enough!
  • Learn from those that didn’t go so well and move on – next year is a fresh start.
  • Do a plan for 2010 with clear deadlines and targets

     How can you motivate your people in 2010?

In my new book “Coaching Skills for Leaders in the Workplace” There are some tips such as:

• Help people to feel included by respecting their views and opinions
• Give tangible rewards (eg/ monthly performance reward that they have suggested – within reason!)
• Delegate and accept mistakes as a learning curve
• Conduct one to one meetings to listen to concerns/ideas/suggestions
• Make sure these are recorded and acted on
